A Basic Introduction into the World of Futons

For decades, futons have been a popular fixture within the dorm rooms of college students and several other urban settings of living. Futons are functional, stylish, and versatile; they also can be integrated into just about any setting. The futon beds are also simple and lightweight, which provides all of the sleepers with a very comfortable place to catch up on some rest.

The majority of people out there don't even realize that futon beds originated within Japan. For several hundred years, the Japanese people have slept on the thin futon mattresses that are directly placed on the floor. The Japanese people didn't see any need to have a bed that was elaborate with a headboard, frame and box spring. The only things that the early form of futons involved were small pillows, a thin mattress and a blanket.

During the morning, the futon bed always could be rolled up and then put into a closet. However, over time, the overall concept of sleeping upon futon beds was able to make its way to America. Often, the modern futons have adjustable frames and they can either be used as a bed or couch, it all depends on how the frame has been arranged. Normally, the frames are created from colored metal, however they and also be wooden.

The futon beds don't need to be folded out like the couch beds; all you have to do is push the back of the futon's frame from the upright position of the couch to the horizontal position of the bed. Over time, a normal mattress has the potential to become uncomfortable if all of the springs don't hold up very well to pressure.

This isn't a problem with the futons because the majority of them don't have any springs. Over time, the futon beds have greatly evolved. Making the transition from their very simple beginnings as being space saving beds for the Japanese to their models today which are used for multi-purposes, they are really a great alternative to all of the conventional beds.
